Based on a pilot study, published in 2007 issue of the Journal of the Society for Integrative Oncology, by the Mayo Clinic, dietary therapy using flaxseed can decrease hot flashes in post menopausal women who do not take estrogen. Flaxseed contains phytoestrogen, which mimics the binding activity of female estrogen. The study by the Mayo Clinic had significant results: there was a 57% drop in Hot Flashes experienced by women who participated in the study.
